Folk textiles come from the time when Japanese people had to recycle fabrics because they couldn’t afford to replace them. So textiles used as clothing were repaired and repaired, then eventually used as interior fabrics perhaps as rug or futon covers. They were repaired with fabric patches from old family clothes. The result are an elaborate mosaic of fabrics known as "ranru" which are highly collectable. These are some examples of my Folk Textiles collection. Please contact me for details of full collection.
