This hand-stitched women’s cotton yukata kimono has navy Japanese traditional pattern Hanabishi (flower-shaped family crest) and stripes design in white. The pattern on a white background is cool and refreshing. Curtain Call is a charming vintage piece.
This yukata is quite long. Please check the measurement. You may need to have a bit of tuck at your waist with this length of kimono unless you are very tall. You can adjust the length by using a koshihimo (a cord tied around the waist of a woman's kimono to hold it in place). Koshihimos are available for £4. Please ask for more details.
Or you could make a belt from cutting about 20 cm off the bottom of the kimono and sewing it. I sometimes do this for modern cotton kimonos because they usually come with a long length. They are long because Japanese people tuck the kimono in around their waist when they wear kimonos.
The kimono is slightly starched and will soften after a couple of hand washes in cold water.
It has a tiny mark on the collar and certain wear, but as a whole, it is in very good condition for the age. Please check the detail photos and the 'Extra Images'.
