This womens omeshi silk summer kimono has a geometric and graphic white and red cubes in very dark navy blue like modern art. It is so-called hitoe (single lining), which means it has no lining.
These days, omeshi is the name of a type of heavy crepe silk. The twisted threads are dyed and waxed before they are woven together strongly to produce the patterned kimono fabric. Hand washing after weaving releases some of the twist in the threads and creates the original slightly crispy and rough texture of the fabric.
This kimono is quite long. Please check the measurement. You may need to have a bit of tuck at your waist with this length of kimono unless you are very tall. You can adjust the length by using a koshihimo (a cord tied around the waist of a womans kimono to hold it in place). Koshihimo is available for £4. Please ask for more details.
It would be stunning to wear and also display as a wonderful piece of art for a room. Because of the long length and the cool pattern, I do recommend it for slim men as well. Rear Window is a very stylish vintage piece.
It has certain wear and a couple of marks on the lining of the collar, but as a whole, it is in good condition for the age. Please check the detail photos and the 'Extra Images'.
Note: This kimono does not come with a belt. If you would like one, please check my casual obi collection on casual-obi-belt.html. Prices start from £7 or £8 for a belt.
