This is a fantastic antique indigo cotton fireman's hanten jacket. Fireman's jackets are usually made of very tough cotton for their work but this is a quite light weight hanten jacket. Kanji lettering on lapel says ‘Kawaura-ku Shobougumi ( Kawaura area fire team ) 川浦区 消防組’ and the jacket also has wonderful graphic character of the fire team logo at at back and fabulous Kakuji 角字 style kanji character saying ‘shobou 消防’ which means fire fighting. I really love the design ♡ One of the previous owners put patchwork on the right shoulder of the jacket.
This is a collectable piece.
It makes a great jacket with jeans or any other items for men and women and also would be stunning to display as a fabulous piece of art. Enjoy antique folk textile taste of Japan! ♡
The indigo and red colour tend to become nicely faded with age and certain wear and the jacket has sense of heave duty use. It also has some flaws including holes and marks. Please check the detailed photos.
I try to show you as accurate colours as possible but it's not always easy in a photo so the real colour might be slightly different from the pictures.
